Reviews Google will keep
- 01Ask every customer, not only happy ones. Google’s policy forbids selectively asking for positive reviews.
- 02Never offer a reward for a review. Discounts or freebies in return break Google’s rules and can get reviews removed.
- 03Word it neutrally: "Tell us how we did" rather than "Leave us 5 stars".
- 04Using a Place ID? Recheck it yearly. Google advises refreshing Place IDs older than 12 months, as they can change when a business moves.
- 05Make one code per location, so each branch collects reviews on its own profile.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get my Google review link?
On a computer, find your business on Google while signed in to the account that manages it, choose Ask for reviews or Get more reviews, and copy the link. It usually looks like g.page/r/.../review.
Doesn’t Google already give me a review QR code?
Google Business Profile offers a plain code on a computer. This generator makes one from the same link with your logo, a Review us on Google frame and print-ready PDF, SVG and EPS.
What if I can’t access the Business Profile?
Look the business up in Google’s Place ID Finder, copy its Place ID and paste it here. The code then opens the write a review box for that place. Scan it once to check before printing.
Can a Place ID change?
Yes. Google recommends refreshing Place IDs older than 12 months, and an ID can go out of date when a business closes or moves. The review link from your Business Profile is the more stable choice.
Can I offer a discount for a review?
No. Google treats reviews given in exchange for discounts, freebies or other rewards as fake engagement, and can remove them.
Can I ask only happy customers to review?
No. Google’s policy prohibits selectively asking for positive reviews. Put the code where every customer sees it.
Do customers need a Google account?
Yes. Posting a review requires being signed in to a Google account, which most Android users and many iPhone users already are.
Does the review QR code expire?
No. It is a static code holding your review link, so it keeps working for as long as the link does.
