Business Card Generator

A standard US and Canadian business card is 3.5 x 2 inches (88.9 x 50.8 mm). Most of Europe uses 85 x 55 mm, and Japan uses 91 x 55 mm. This generator makes all three, horizontal or vertical, and adds the bleed a printer needs around the edge.

At 300 dpi, the print minimum, a US business card is 1050 x 600 pixels; at 600 dpi it is 2100 x 1200 pixels. With a 1/8 inch bleed on every side, the 300 dpi file is 1125 x 675 pixels. The PNGs here are 600 dpi.

Fill in your details, open the QR code tab and choose Save my contact or My website. The code is generated from your details, placed on the card, and test-scanned in the browser, so you know it works before you print. Save my contact adds you to a phone’s contacts in one tap.

At least 15 to 20 mm (about 3/4 inch) wide, and bigger when it holds a full contact. What matters is the size of each dot: keep it above 0.33 mm. The generator shows the printed size and dot size, and warns when a code is too dense to scan reliably.

The back, in most cases. It can print two or three times larger there, which makes it easier to scan, and it keeps the front clean for your name and contact details. The Executive and Modern layouts can also fit a smaller code on the front.

Your name, job title, company, phone, email and website, plus your logo. An address is worth adding only if people visit you. A short tagline and a QR code that saves your contact help the card do more than sit in a drawer.

Bleed is extra artwork past the cut line, 1/8 inch (3.175 mm) in the US and 3 mm elsewhere, so colour runs right to the edge even when the cut shifts slightly. Keep text and logos at least 3 mm inside the cut line, in the safe area.

At least 300 dpi at the final size; 600 dpi keeps small text and QR codes sharp. The files here are 600 dpi, in RGB, which every online printer accepts. A shop that asks for CMYK converts it on its side.

Yes. Download the sheet PDF, which puts ten US cards on Letter or ten European cards on A4, with cut marks, and print it at 100 percent (actual size) on heavy card stock, 250 to 350 gsm. For two-sided cards, print the second page on the back, flipping on the long edge.
