Source code, or SaaS?

Buy the source when the data is sensitive, when you want to change how it works, or when a monthly fee for something this specific does not make sense. Tenant records, payroll and patient data are the usual reasons.

Buy SaaS when you do not want to be responsible for hosting, updates and security. That is a real cost and it is fair to avoid it.

If you want the source but not the sysadmin work, take hosting and maintenance and I will run it for you. Customisation and installation is $10 per hour, or fixed price once the scope is clear.

What arrives when you buy

A zip containing the full application source, the SQL schema, and a written install guide. Nothing is minified, nothing phones home, and there is no build step to reverse engineer before you can read the code.

You may modify it, rebrand it, and deploy it on as many servers as you own. You may not resell it as a competing product. That is the whole licence.

What you need to run it

Standard shared or VPS hosting with PHP 8.1 or newer and MySQL or MariaDB. No Node build pipeline, no Docker requirement, no paid third-party services to sign up for before the app will start. If it runs cPanel, it runs this.

Why these exist

Each product here started as client work, which is the reason the edge cases are handled. Billing that has to cope with a tenant moving out mid-month, or reporting that has to match a government format, gets solved properly when somebody is depending on it. Tutorial projects never reach that point.

You can read the build write-up for anything sold here before you buy. The case studies cover the problem, the stack, and the parts that were harder than expected.

If nothing here fits

Most of what I build is commissioned rather than sold off the shelf, so the catalogue is deliberately small. If you need something close to one of these but not identical, describe it and I will tell you whether adapting an existing system or starting fresh is cheaper. Sometimes the honest answer is that you do not need custom software at all.
