Overview

Management of five DECKO Shopify storefronts across four countries: decko.com.au, decko.co.nz, deckodiy.eu, decko.hu and deckodiy.com.

Each has its own language, currency and catalogue. I run them as one system.

The problem

What was in the way

Five storefronts run by five different people become five different brands within a year.

A theme change lands in one region and not another. Product data drifts. A promotion goes live in Australia and never reaches New Zealand. Something hardcoded for one market quietly breaks in another and nobody notices until a customer reports it.

The problem is not any single store. It is keeping five aligned without freezing all of them.

What I built

Seven parts, each with a reason

Homepage rebuilds, structurally consistent

Rebuilt across regions and kept structurally the same, so the brand reads identically in Sydney, Berlin and Budapest while catalogue, currency and shipping differ underneath.

Structural consistency is what makes the next change cheap. When five homepages share a section order and a component set, a new section is built once and rolled out, not designed five times.

SEO and CRO applied identically

Title and meta patterns, collection structure, internal linking and conversion elements applied the same way store to store.

This is the compounding part. An improvement made once and applied consistently improves five stores. An improvement made ad hoc in one store is a difference to reconcile later.

Landing pages built once, then ported

The Room Visualizer, Partners and Cashback pages were each built for one market, then adapted and rolled out across the others. Adapted, not copy-pasted: currency, legal wording, shipping terms and product terminology all change per market.

How the work is done

Theme edits go on duplicated themes and are reviewed before publishing. With one storefront that is good practice. With five live storefronts across four timezones it is the difference between a mistake affecting one market for ten minutes and affecting every market overnight.

Region-specific values are kept out of shared sections. Anything hardcoded, a currency symbol, a shipping threshold, a phone number, becomes a bug the moment the section is ported. The rule is that a shared section reads its values from the store it is running in.

Rollouts are sequenced rather than simultaneous. One market first, verified, then the rest. A change that looks correct in a theme preview can still break against a different catalogue.

Translation managed as localisation

German and Hungarian storefronts are maintained as real localisations. That means product terminology, legal copy and shipping copy, not just button labels. Machine-swapped text in a product category reads as wrong to a native speaker in a way that costs trust immediately.

One operational owner

Changes are applied deliberately across the set rather than discovered as drift six months later. That is the actual deliverable.

Why this is the proof point

Running one Shopify store well is a skill. Running five across four countries without them diverging is a different discipline.

If you operate a single storefront, most Shopify people can help. If you operate several, the failure mode is drift, and this is the experience that addresses it.

How it was built

The engineering underneath

Five storesShopify with custom Liquid across all of them, theme customisation rather than a page builder
IntegrationsRoomvo for visualisation, UpPromote for affiliates, Bixgrow for referrals
MaintainableThe markup stays readable and the pages stay fast, which a theme framework would not guarantee

Shopify with custom Liquid across all five stores. Theme customisation rather than a page builder or a third-party theme framework, so the markup stays maintainable and pages stay fast.

Third-party platforms are integrated where they are genuinely better than building: Roomvo for room visualisation, UpPromote for affiliates, Bixgrow for referrals. The work in each case is the integration and the conversion-focused page around it.

Why it matters for your project

I build software, and I measure whether it works.

The same questions I research are the ones I ask on client builds: is it reliable, is it fast, is it easy to use, and is it secure. Those four drove satisfaction in my ICT portal study, and they shape how I scope and test every project.
