Gaming Massage, WordPress Site
An inherited WordPress site for Premier Gaming Massage, running Genesis with a Dynamik child theme and content going back to 2018. Domain, DNS and hosting recovered into the company's own accounts. Maintained now, rebuild next.
gamingmassage.com is the public site for Premier Gaming Massage. I inherited it, I keep it running, and a rebuild is the next piece of work.
Being straight about this one: the current design is not mine. It came with the handover, and this page is here because maintaining somebody else's site is real work that clients ask about.
What was in the way
Their previous programmer left, and the site came with the rest of the accounts.
The domain and DNS. Moved into the company's own registrar account, in their name.
The hosting. Access, backups and the certificate, all recovered and documented.
The site itself. A long-running WordPress install. The uploads folder goes back to 2018, so there is a decade of content and a matching decade of plugin decisions to unpick.
Two parts, each with a reason
What I do on it now
Updates applied on a copy first, backups that are actually restorable, certificate and uptime monitoring, and the small content changes the office asks for.
The same maintenance routine I run on every WordPress site I am responsible for.
The rebuild, not yet started
The plan is a clean rebuild: drop the visual builder layer, move the template logic out of the loose PHP files and into a theme, and reduce two backup plugins and a caching plugin to one of each.
That work has not started. When it does, this page gets the before and after.
The engineering underneath
A Genesis child theme built with Dynamik Website Builder 2.6.9.6, which is a visual builder layered on top of Genesis.
It carries the usual signs of a site that changed hands more than once: a custom-hook-boxes.php and an advanced-headers.php holding template logic outside the theme, two backup plugins writing to two different folders, LiteSpeed caching, and a security plugin with its own backup directory.
None of that is broken. It is just the kind of accumulation that makes a small change take an afternoon instead of ten minutes.
